AI-Generated Data: Guardians of Privacy or a Trojan Horse?
Anastasia Simou, Test Data Management Lead
Since the introduction of stricter privacy regulations like GDPR in 2018, protecting personal data has become essential. Many organizations now rely on data masking or synthetic data in testing, but are these methods truly sufficient?
This talk will reveal how training AI on sensitive or synthetic data can still expose private information through attacks such as model inversion and data inference. Real-world cases show how adversaries can reverse-engineer models, undermining promised privacy.
We will also explore privacy-preserving techniques like differential privacy and cryptographic methods, aiming to ensure responsible AI development and highlight the risks of relying solely on synthetic data.
Anastasia Simou holds a diploma in Mathematics and works as a Senior Quality Engineer in Accenture since 2022, specializing in Test Data Management. Her focus is on helping organizations develop effective test data management strategies that prioritize data safety and compliance.
